Build a Resume From Your LinkedIn Profile

If you keep your LinkedIn profile up to date—and need a hard copy of your resume—give LinkedIn’s Resume Builder a try.

Linkedin’s resume builder takes the information from your LinkedIn profile and generates a resume, which can be downloaded as a PDF.. You can choose from a number of templates—from “software developer” to “loveable lawyer” to “dolphin trainer”*

Important: LinkedIn members can only access the Resume Builder feature from the LinkedIn desktop experience.

To access Resume Builder

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Click View profile.
  3. Click the More button in the introduction section.
  4. Select Build a resume from the dropdown.

And you can now view and tweak your printed resume as you wish.

Note that anything you do in Resume Builder will not reflect on your LinkedIn profile:

LinkedIn’s Resume Builder also lets you save your resumes, share them and keep them private, if you prefer.

I use Linkedin to keep my resume updated and use the resume builder to simply download a neat copy to send for interviews and to recruitment consultants. Neat stuff.

* Obviously I’m only joking, there is no such thing as a “loveable lawyer”
