New IBM-i Tech Channel – @NickLittenTech

IBM i

A little Spring Cleaning for 2026

Hey there, IBM i programmers. For many years, my main NICKLITTEN YouTube channel has been a mix of everything: technical deep dives into RPGLE coding, CL scripting tips, SQL stored procedures on IBM i, and even some fun family videos from trips or daily life.

Back in 2007 I signed up for Youtube and started a personal space for family videos. Over time my focus shifted more to helping folks with IBM-i systems and programming, the channel grew cluttered with a mixture of personal videos and technology focused videos.

Now, it’s time to do some long overdue housekeeping, and split things up by moving all the technical videos to a new, dedicated NICKLITTEN Tech channel.

Let me explain why this makes sense and how it benefits you as an IBM i developer.

First, clarity for the audience. If you are here for practical guides on modernizing legacy RPG code with tools like Visual Studio Code or Project Bob, or setting up GIT for source control on your Power Systems box, you do not want to sift through videos of my kids playing soccer or family vacations. The old channel has over a hundred videos, but only about half are technical. By creating a dedicated tech channel, I can keep it laser-focused on IBM i topics: from error handling in CL and RPG, to using split screens in VS Code for efficient coding, and exploring AI-driven refactoring. This way, when you subscribe, you get straight value without the noise.

Second, better organization and growth. YouTube’s algorithm loves niche content. A channel purely about IBM i programming will attract more like-minded devs searching for AS400 tutorials, iSeries development, or Power Systems security. It means higher visibility for videos on things like creating worklists in Turnover or debugging subfiles in RPG. Plus, it lets me upload more frequently without diluting the feed. The family stuff stays on the old channel for personal sharing, while the new one becomes a go-to resource for IBM i warriors.

I will migrate the existing technical videos over gradually, so nothing gets lost. In the meantime, check out my blog posts, code snippets, and free downloads on these topics. This move keeps things professional and instructive, just like the resources here on the site.

Thanks for sticking with me through the transition. Let us keep building stronger IBM i skills together.

Drop a comment if you have questions or find broken links and I hope to see you on the new channel.
