What is Node.js?

Node.js is an open source project based on the Google Chrome JavaScript Engine.

What does Node.js do?

Node.js provides a platform for server-side JavaScript applications running without browsers.

Who can use Node.js?

Node.js can be run on the IBM i power system, a platform that provides enterprise-grade scalability and reliability for business applications.

Extensions have been created to allow Node.js applications to access IBM DB2® for i objects and IBM i system resources and objects.

Many developers are basing the architecture of their real-time applications on the Node.js framework because of its inherent event-driven architecture and non-blocking I/O API.
