Green Screen Signon in a Webpage

IBM i Access for Web revolutionizes your Boss’s view of your IBM i systems, offering a stretchy, secure, and user-friendly web gateway to those oh-so-important resources.

Want to give your IBM i a fresh coat of modern?

This tool just might be your ticket to the future!

I know it’s been around for over a decade, but I think IBM i Access for Web is under utilized out there in the corporate land. Maybe because people don’t know about it. Which is a shame.

IBM i Access for Web TRANSFER WEB VIEW 5250 Session

It looks very cool and modern, but perhaps most importantly, it means you have a zero-weight digital imprint on your client machines – they don’t need to install anything except a browser to access your IBM i System.

The connection is maintained ON your Power System and shared to the client’s browser… this means something very cool! The client browser session can disconnect (or the PC could even reboot) and when it goes back to the webpage, they can simply select the active session and resume working. I know this works because I just tested it 🙂

Sounds too good to be true right?

THE BAD NEWS: IBM i Access for Web is no longer supported by IBM. Currently, it is available for download on the Entitlement Software Support (ESS) website under SS1. You can also order a physical copy through e-Configurator. Since IBM i Access for Web is no longer supported software, it will NOT be receiving updates or fixes. As with all unsupported software, you will need to monitor for any security exposures going forward.

Having said all that – donwload it from IBM and see if it solves your problem.

Free 5250 Emulators

The TN5250J java application is an IBM i 5250 terminal emulator written in Java. Originally created because there was no AS4000/iSeries terminal emulator for Linux with features like continued edit fields, GUI windows, cursor progression fields etc.
