MovieMode = *ON;

So, According to development of the next installment of I AM LEGEND is underway:

There have been rumblings about an impending second installment in the I Am Legend (would-be) franchise being made, ever since the original 2007 film grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide in theaters. Warner Bros. has finally struck a deal to do just that, with Oscar-winner Akiva Goldsman – who co-wrote and produced the original Legend adaptation – now on board to collaborate on the project (in some form)…. The second I Am Legend flick is (as Deadline puts it) “not being called a prequel,” and is being fashioned so as to allow Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville (if the A-lister so chooses). QUOTE=SCREENRANT

Sorry, I had pause there… had an uncontrolleable burst of over-excitement and needed to sit down and have a nice cup of tea to regain control.

I loved the first I AM LEGEND movie. Lurved it!

I remember eagerly awaiting the launch date, getting to the cinema an hour early to get a good seat and huge bucket of popcorn. I was like a kid at the Cinema watching this story unfold on the big screen. Will Smith did an excellent job and I must admit to crying during *that* scene with his dog – Sam. If you watched the movie and own a pet you may know what I mean…

I’ve long been a fan of the ‘post-apocalypse’ concept in movies, books and tv series.

As a kid I remember watching THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (which was remade as THE OMEGA MAN), DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS (Wow!) and ON THE BEACH and this fueled my fascination in the genre from an early age.

Some great books include ALAS BABYLON, THE POSTMAN, THE CHRYSALIDS and just too many to mention.

On TV I simply loved the BBC SURVIVORS series in the 70s and then the remade series was launched in 2009 I was even more excited than I am with the prospect of I AM LEGEND 2. Sadly, Survivors was cancelled by BBC at the end of season 2 – if i was still living in England I would have cancelled my TV License when I found out 🙁 The very excellent American TV Series JERICHO followed the same route.

But I digress…

I AM LEGEND the sequel… or the prequel I dont care… but sequel would be better as long as we have a sequel to the excellent Alternate Ending and not some soppy ‘he didnt really die because he hid in a box type of nonsense…
