CRTRCVFORMI Create Recovery Form (Interactively)

The CRTRCVFORMI command in TURNOVER® for iSeries v100 is used to interactively create a Recovery Form, a specialized form that lets you reverse or reapply a previous promotion, typically used in rollback scenarios, disaster recovery, or emergency change management.

What a Recovery Form Is

A Recovery Form is TURNOVER’s way of:

  • Recreating a previously promoted object or source member

  • Reversing a promotion that caused issues

  • Reapplying a change that was accidentally removed

  • Restoring a known-good version from TURNOVER’s archive

It’s like a time machine for your IBM i objects—backed by audit trails and version control.

What CRTRCVFORMI Does

This command:

  • Launches an interactive panel to guide you through creating a Recovery Form

  • Lets you select a previous promotion form or archived object

  • Builds a new form that can be submitted for promotion to restore the item

  • Supports both source members and compiled objects

  • Integrates with TURNOVER’s audit history, promotion levels, and security controls

It’s the interactive counterpart to the batch command CRTRCVFORM.

How It Fits in Your Workflow

CRTRCVFORMI

Then follow the interactive prompts to:

  • Locate the original promotion form for ORDENTR

  • Select the version to recover

  • Create a new Recovery Form

  • Submit it for promotion back to production

This restores the previous version without manually copying or recompiling.

Pro Tips

  •  Use WRKOBJHST or WRKFORM to locate the original promotion form before launching CRTRCVFORMI.
  • Recovery Forms are tracked just like regular forms—so you maintain full auditability.
  • Great for scripting rollback flows in your Thrive Apprentice tutorials or emergency change guides.
