Today, we’re diving headfirst into the wild world of legacy code transformation, taking crusty old AS400 RPG and giving it a shiny new RPG Free format makeover using VS Code.
I’ve unearthed a particularly pungent piece of 1994 RPG code from the depths of my archive, think GOTOs, tags, and six-character filenames, and we’re going to run it through a few modernizers to see what magic (or mayhem) unfolds.
We’ll test out three RPG conversion plugins, including Bob Cozy's fresh-off-the-launchpad Uplift tool, and see how they handle this fossilized beast.
