I sometimes prefer the dark theme layout in RDi. Other days I prefer it light. I'm very indecisive. Don't be like me 😉
1. Open Preferences
Go to the top menu: Window → Preferences
2. Navigate to the Appearance Settings
In the left sidebar, open:General → Appearance
3. Choose Your Theme
In the Theme dropdown, select:
Dark — for the Eclipse dark theme
Light — the default RDi theme
4. Apply the Change
Click Apply and Close
RDi will usually prompt you to restart.
If it does, restart to fully apply the theme.
RDi uses Eclipse under the hood
So the theme options depend on the Eclipse version bundled with your RDi release.
- RDi 9.6+ includes the standard Dark theme.
- Older versions may require installing the Eclipse dark theme manually.
Some UI elements may not fully theme
Because RDi includes IBM‑specific views (like Outline, Error List, Remote Systems), a few panels may stay light even in Dark mode. That’s normal.
